Flower Garden Starting Supplies
Hi guys, I wanted to deviate from my normal ideas and share something I LOVE to do and brings me so much joy: my zinnia garden! I am by no means a professional here but they are very hardy and easy to grow in my area!

I wanted to link some of my supplies. & if you’re worried you’re late to the game: don’t! These can be direct sow or started indoors. Plus, I always like to do a second batch to plant and have zinnias that are fall colors later in the summer into early fall.

First: Find your gardening zone here This will guide you on when to plant and what will grow well in your area factoring in weather temps and soil.
SEEDS: I love shopping from Johnny’s Seeds here. They have some gorgeous zinnia color options! Follow the directions on the seed packs for when to plan.
For starting indoors: I LOVE these fun colored trays and 2.5″ seed starter pots. OR shop the 2.5″ black pots and black trays on Amazon to get them faster!

We set them up in our basement and bottom water meaning we pour water into the long 10×20 tray, not each individual seed pots. It helps prevent mold and algae.
We also set up these lights above it to provide sunlight and have a fan running on them lightly to help the plant be stronger. Think of it as mimicking them being outside.
Another item you may consider is a warming mat (2 pack for only $19.99!)to help the seeds germinate. Once they germinate, you don’t need the heating mat on anymore. Use this for about 1 week (no more than 2) when you see them sprouting and can cause problems like bacteria growth.
Transfer the flowers based on your last frost date following the directions on the seed packets!
Let me know if you have any questions about growing zinnias!
Xoxo,
Ash
