2026 DIY Projects

These projects couldn’t be easier! If you’re like me, once the new year hits, I get antsy about what to do and where to start. Here are 3 incredibly easy projects to tackle once it gets warmer out!

  1. Liquid Rubber your deck. I loatheeee sealing and treating my deck but found a product with a 3 year warranty. I was blown away by the end results! Biggest reminder: prep is your best friend. I know it’s not fun, but it’s how you make sure your work lasts.

Here is the video on how I did it all in one weekend. Prep: power washing, scraping loose paint/wood chips, washing, rinse, prime and paint. It sounds like a lot but it was a weekend project I highly recommend. Shop ALL the supplies here for this project.

2. Restore your playground. Y’all….when I say this one is a must-do I mean it. No more ugly faded playgrounds. “But Ashley, I haven’t treated it in years!” DOESN’T MATTER. This product seals and is tinted to bring your playground back to life. I do NOT pressure wash or clean or sand. If you have splinters, definitely sand those but besides that, I never prep besides covering things I don’t want stained. Slop it on and watch it work it’s magic.

Here is the video on this one day transformation. I do this every spring (thanks to brutal Midwest winters and hot summers) but it’s such an easy DIY, I don’t mind. The results are worth it. Here is the product I used for mine. The color I used was natural cedar.

3. Waterproofing below you deck. Ok, this was a lot of work but so worth it! The actual waterproofing itself, easy. But I also framed it all in with trellis to make it not such an eye-sore!

Watch the detailed video here. You will need: corrugated plastic and deck screws. As far as drainage, decks usually are already sloped. We never notice it, but it’s why water doesn’t pool up. Double check before beginning your project with a level. If it’s not, You can slope it using scrap wood on the beams below to slope. I have linked all the supplies here in my Lowe’s Storefront.

Any questions? Please let me know! I’d love to hear if you try these and I hope you’ll stick around to see what projects I come up with in 2026!

Xoxo,

Ash
