Edwardsville Children’s Museum
One of our favorite places to visit is the Edwardsville Children’s Museum!
The Edwardsville Children’s Museum has exhibits and programs geared towards little ones from infants-12 year olds! Their mission is to: “Stimulate curiousity and cultivate learning at the age of wonder.” It is so cool!
I love how their exhibits help little ones explore some of the many careers around them! The ECM actually almost closed down in 2014 but the community stepped up and raised over $100,000 in 9 months to keep it up! People from all over the area come to visit but I love how it still feels homey and it’s local! We also love the Magic House in St. Louis, but I love that this is less “busy” and less stimulating for little ones.
They offer so many things like baby sign language, story time, summer camps for all ages, birthday parties, field trips, and more! They are always growing and expanding their outreach. I love their mission and we always have a blast visiting!

My daughter spent most of her time playing in the play kitchen. It is themed to match a local italian restaurant, Bella Milano! It is stock full of menus, dress up chef outfits, utensils, food, oven, dish washing, and so much more. They have bins to organize each food (cheese, pizza, bread, veggies, salad, etc..) so again you can work on your child’s matching skills and also work on teaching manners! Lots of education opportunities at the Edwardsville Children’s Museum.
Every restaurant is going to need to make a grocery trip every once in a while…
With play foods comes the problem with little ones putting things into their mouths. They have got you covered though with hanging mesh bags throughout the museum. If your child puts a toy into their mouth, once they are done with it, simply place it into one of the bags and they will have it cleaned before placing it back out! Yay for containing those germs!
Speaking of mouths….Did someone say, “It’s time for a checkup at the dentist office?!
They are always adding more exhibits and raising more funds to keep improving the museum! Two of their newest exhibits are the outdoor playground and the theatre!
A few other features I love are:
- 2 bathrooms with changing tables in both
- Doors that beep to let you know someone left (perfect for keeping an eye on runaways!)
- Plenty of seating space for grown-ups
- Souvenier Shop
- Programs/summer camps for all ages!
- Price!!! You get the better deal when getting a membership. Even if you only go 2x you probably are making some money back than just buying individual day passes
- They are community oriented! They are always donating, doing fundraisers, or providing outreach opportunities to schools/daycare in the area.
We love visiting the Edwardsville Children’s Museum and hope you do too!
