Marpac Dohm Elite Sound Machine Review
If you are looking for an amazing sound machine that actually sounds natural and won’t break the bank–this is the one for you! For the last month we have been using our Marpac Dohm Elite and have noticed an amazing difference in our daughter’s sleep (and our own)!! We had been originally using an air purifier as our daughter’s sound machine but quickly noticed that even on it’s lowest setting it was too loud and would disrupt her sleep. Not to mention, it also sounded kind of clunky and not natural and soothing at all. We knew we needed to do SOMETHING so I am super excited about this new sound machine.
We have been working on sleep training our daughter mainly in the sense that we just want her out of our bed but are ok with her in our room. I say this because the sound machine is also in our room and it has helped not only my daughter but both my husband and I sleep better. My husband was ALWAYS waking up because of our dog but now he sleeps much more deeply with our sound machine! YAY! 🙂 Our daughter is now sleeping through the night and obviously, it took time but I will say that I truly believe the sound machine has been helping.
Previously, when we would turn on the air purifier our daughter would cry and scream. Now when we do, she voluntarily lays down and is ready to sleep. I think that this natural sound created by the fan and the vents is welcoming and soothing to her. I personally enjoy it as well and find it relaxing.

Our previous air purifier/noise machine was too loud so I LOVE that it is super adjustable with the Dohm. There is a button on the front to choose high or low volume and you simple turn the Dohm top to adjust the tone. It’s amazing the difference it makes and it covers those disruptive noises waking you from your sleep. We live in a smaller, split-level house so it is really amazing to have this as you can hear just about EVERYTHING in our house.
We often will have it on while watching a t.v. show in our basement and have our monitor sitting literally next to it. I haven’t had any issues with our monitor picking it up too loudly or interfering with our monitor. We are still very capable of recognizing when our daughter is crying even with the sound machine on.
Something small but may matter to you is that the cord is long. I like that so I can put it on higher shelves out of my daughters reach. 😉 The cord is about 8ft long.
It comes with a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty and they even offer a 101 Day Trial Period because they 100% stand behind their product (as they should, it’s amazing).
My favorite thing about this sound machine is how simple it is but at the same time, it is super effective. It has become a staple baby item and it is now added to my list of what I will recommend for my close friends for their babies.
