Southwestern Teepee by Pillowfort

We bought this teepee from Target for our daughter for her first birthday. I thought it would be an awesome addition to her playroom for playing in, reading, and lounging. Eventually, I picture her sleeping under it or having friends over. We’ve overall been satisfied with this teepee but there are some things that could have been better.

The price was $80 for the teepee at Target thought we got it for a little bit cheaper because it was on sale. That’s about the price range for most teepees that I looked at. It had 4 stars and decent reviews so we decided to go for it.

I was soo excited to get to set it up. Imagine my disappointment when I had to return it because it was poorly made 🙁 The 4 poles are actually 8 poles that are just screwed in together. It was impossible to get 2 of the poles to screw together. They just wouldn’t line up no matter how hard we tried. So back to the store it went and we gave it another shot.

I did notice that there were other teepees that did look returned as well so I wonder if this was a common problem. Maybe our store just put them back without sending them off as damaged? I’m not sure, but it’s worth noting that you MAY have to return it and try another.

Normally, I would probably just find a different teepee but I really liked the designs so I thought I would give it one more try. Luckily, this time it worked. They all screwed together easily and no problems were had that go around. I love the aztec type design on the teepee and it will go beautifully with our woodland, gender-neutral playroom so fun can be had by our daughter and if we someday have a boy, he will enjoy it too.

I love all of the possibilities with our teepee. My daughter and I love to read in it together. She loves taking her toys in and playing. She loves to play peek-a-boo inside too. One of her all-time favorites is to use her DockATot inside it. She is only 13 months old and these are just some of the many ways we use it! I can’t imagine all of the fun we will have over the next years.

It says it is for children ages 3 and up. I would assume because of risk of it falling over. We keep our’s in the living room so our daughter is always under our watch. I put it up against the wall when it’s not in use so it’s out of the way. It closes up sooo nicely and can fit in a closet or in a corner. Out of sight, out of mind.

The cloth part of the teepee is polyster. The frame poles are made of pine wood with a natural-looking pine finish. You simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth if (or when-if we are real honest) it gets dirty.

It does take up quite a bit of space. I hadn’t realized how huge this thing would be! I look at it as a positive though because now multiple kids can have fun together in it! It is about 4 1/2 feet tall and the base is about 4 ft x 4 ft. If you have a tiny space and are limited on where this would go, it may not be a good choice for you. I am thankful that it can fold up super easy though so when we aren’t using it, I have my space back.

Overall, the cost isn’t bad. It’s comparable to those on the market. The design is gorgeous. It was an easy set-up when the poles lined up. Returning it was very easy. It doesn’t take up too much space when put away. It’s spacious enough for multiple children to have fun.

We like our teepee. It’s what we wanted. The design was what really sold us. If we had gotten a second defective teepee, I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it but because return was easy and the second teepee was fine, I think it would be a good purchase. It made a perfect first birthday present for our daughter and she loves it!
