Transitioning Toddler to New Baby with Doll Babywearing

Whether she needed me close or I needed the comfort of having her next to me, babywearing was a life saver. What better way to transition a toddler to the idea of a new baby than to introduce them to one of the biggest things in our relationship??

Naturally, when she found out we were pregnant and the further along I got, I noticed she took to her baby doll a lot more. She would “clean her”, read to her, walk her in the stroller, and feed her. That’s when it dawned on me to look into a doll carrier to get her used to the idea that mommy and daddy will be wearing her new baby brother soon.

I wasn’t sure how much she remembered about babywearing because I quit wearing her soon after becoming pregnant. Being pregnant with a toddler is a lot harder than I anticipated! So this is a fun way to remind her about babywearing. My hope is also that once I regain my strength, we can continue toddler wearing as well. 🙂

Anywho, to no surprise, she loved babywearing her doll. She takes her EVERYWHERE and will even ask me to put her “pack” on so she can carry her doll with her. She even already knows baby needs to be close enough to kiss 😉

You can buy a doll carrier for $17 USD but shipping is where it will get you. But I tell you what, it is WELL worth the price. The quality of this carrier is amazing. I only wish I had a matching one to carry my baby in! <3

My daughter started using hers around 21 months and it is slightly big but it is intended for 2 year olds and up so that makes perfect sense. It is really easy to use and get on your little one. I have to do it for her but it only takes a second and is worth the time to get to watch her experience one of my favorite things in parenting.

Babywearing is so special to us and I love watching my daughter enjoy it as well
