DIY Wood Christmas Trees

These trees come out to UNDER $10/tree!!

What you need:

Skil Table Saw

Wood Glue

Brad Nailer

Nails

Miter Saw

Fence Pickets

Speed Square

Outdoor Acrylic Paint from Michaels

Wooden Star Ornaments from Michaels

How to Make Them:

1. Take the 6″ fence picket and cut it in half so each side is 36″

2. Rip each board in half so you will have four 2.75″ x 36″ pieces

3. Set one aside for the trunk.

4. Cut one at 22″ for a branch and set the remaining aside for a 14″ branch

5. Cut ther at 18″, 9″, 6″, 4″

6. On the last 36″ piece you will cut one 12″ branch and the remaining 24″ you will cut 4 6″ pieces for the base.

7. At the end of each branch cut at a 17 degree angle.

8. For the bases cut at a 17 degree angle one one side.

9. Mark the center of each branch and the trunk using a pencil. Space each branch 1 inch apart. Make sure it’s all lined up.

10. Use wood glue to secure it and line it up and then put in a couple of brad nails.

11. Line up the boards for the base around the trunk with the flat edges of the board touching the trunk. Glue and nail together.

12. Attach the star using wood glue and brad nails.

You can leave it as is, sand and stain, or be like me and add a bunch of colors! For colors from Michaels, I used red  and green outdoor paint and I grabbed bright pink acrylic paint. You can seal it but mine will be on a covered porch.

Let me know in the comments if you’re going to try this! Happy Crafting!
